I take back everything I said about The Hills being boring.
First there was this line, perhaps the best in reality show history:
“I’m taking 18 credits, two days a week… then I work two days a week at Teen Vogue… and I also intern at Chanel!”
Then there was the best facial expression in reality show history, which Lauren Conrad made after she heard that line, which looked a little like someone who swallows five marshmallows at the same time.
And then, the best thing of all: an entire verse of The Oohlas small parts, which made me scream and jump around the living room, and made my roommate exclaim, “Omigosh, what is wrong? You haven’t dated that boy, have you?”
In fact, absolutely not.

okay show does ALL these fabulous things, so she doesn’t have a paying job?
I am all so curious how these The Hills interns pay for anything?
sooo weird…..listening to the exact same song this very moment while reading the post!!!!
superintern!!!!!
i finally got to watch the episode tonight….and i freaked out kinda the same way, but while seated on the couch with gurj.
why would someone intern for like 3 years FOR FREE? i’ve interned lots, but never more than 4 months at one place unless it led to a paying job.
ps. and i love how she’s listed as a contributing editor at teen vogue. like all the other interns don’t matter (except bee, of course, who does nothing but is permanently on the masthead)
she’s interned for 3 years for free and is now listed as a contributing editor on the masthead. does that not answer your question?
Does Emily the Super Intern ever sleep?
sorry “no”, but the last two magazines i’ve interned at (for one and 3 months, respectively), i’ve gotten freelance assistant jobs at. PAID ones. and i get to be on the masthead too! without working for free!
i interned places for over a year… if not more. it helps you build relationships with people over there, shows commitment, and allows you to network. no shame in that — esp when other jobs that you dont really enjoy allow you to enjoy one that you actually do line.
dont hate, emily really is awesome.
obviously, fashiontheory, you didn’t intern at teen vogue. do you really think all magazines are the same and operate the same way?
sorry, but highlights magazine for kids or sudoku weekly aren’t vogue-related magazines, so it’s much harder.
not to mention, it’s not like teen vogue is doing lauren a favour…they’re getting a ton of publicity and sales because of lauren, so she does deserve a little more recognition than some random no-one intern that no one cares about. (like when you were one.)
